Art, Truth & Politics Trailer. Harold Pinter Nobel Prize
Purchase the on DVD here www.illuminationsmedia.co.uk/product/pinter-art-truth-politics/
In late 2005 Harold Pinter videotaped a lecture on the occasion of being awarded one of the most distinguished honours, the Nobel Prize for Literature. His speech, delivered directly to camera, is a complex reflection on his own writing and an excoriating attack on the foreign policy of a “brutal, ruthless and scornful” United States.
Harold Pinter reflects on the genesis of his plays The Homecoming and Old Times; on the problems of political theatre; on the tragedy of American actions in Nicaragua; on the invasion of Iraq and on other crimes by the United States in the past half century.
“Art, Truth & Politics” is a speech that made headlines around the world. It is an urgent and compelling appeal for us all as citizens to seek out and honour truth.

I love Antony Shers' Macbeth.
Keep the children away from the adults.
Iconic ❤
It'll never die. It's just so much faster and more convenient than wallpaper.
Shame on you UA-cam for taking my post down i was only telling the truth
I just love Derek....x
if you think you are the smartest person in a room, leave. Well done Tracey Emin❤❤❤
im a newer fan of basquiat but ive never seen any footage of him not uncomfortable. i wonder what he was like when he wasnt with his defenses up
Awesome!!!
That Roger Scrotum fellow always talked a load of bollocks
Is she storming out or they show themselves walled in?
He discusses how he used to work from life but has switched to painting from photographs "because they so accurate and so good" and that it's "easier" to work that way. It's a shame he didn't work from life because the result doesn't look like her. It looks like a technically good but inaccurate copy of a photograph. Her nose and eyes do not look like her, but it's so close. That's why it's so creepy.
I can understand why she walked off. The men didn’t let the women talk, and “politely silent?” How patronising.
The reality is that painting has intentionally been actively discouraged, and down played, by those academics and cultural-Marxist post modernist cultural gate keepers on their endless crusade to destroy western traditions and symbols of culture and aesthetics, so that they can be replaced by something else of their own creation. We already have activists disfigure and vandalize Cultural icons (-mainly paintings) in their attack against, what they view as Western Cultural 'imperialism'. If painting is dying. ( a big if) it's because of The Culture War being waged around us. If it does die ( or is Killed) there won't be enough water in the North Sea to wash the blood off the hands of the cultural vandals! It won't be long before museums will pull down iconic works of art off their walls to be replaced by droll, empty over intellectualized, conceptual artifacts which are more the product of of the bland materialist machine made crap being created by the art establishment.
Tracys love Tent,,,,,with all her ex partners names on it ? ,,,,,,some of the woman ive dated would need the Dance tent from Glastonbury to get all the Names on? ,,,,,,,i miss 1997 Dave NORFOLK U.K.
In Britain only.
No way someone named themselves after the Vampire Weekend song
I was lucky enough to see this fantastic production directed by Deborah Warner at the Cottlesloe. Fiona Shaw was spellbinding as Richard. A phenomenal actress and a brilliant performance that has always stayed with me. David Threlfall was a brilliant Bolingbroke too.
Gross, why is it so hard for anyone to do this speech justice
So she was a talentless moron back then...and still is today. Congrat's on being consistent.
💐👏🎉😄😁😍😃👑🎶🇵🇪
If they make a new basquiat kid cudi should absolutely play him. They look a lot alike
How on earth is talk about “sacrificial child” and “spilled blood” as revival acceptable? That sort of language is unsettling and should alarm anyone who hears it.
00:23
Isn't it a bit underplayed. It sounds like doctor who
Modern Art is complete shit, and these 2 talentless hacks are exhibits A and B 👎
Sir Derek is spell bindng ! Thank you. 1500 years and mankind has not learned. There will always be repressors. Let there always be those like Sir Derek to keep reminding us of Socrates' words.
Why was Tracey Emin even invited? She's not even a skilled artist. And she's rude and drunk. Seriously.
While they sit in a circle in Europe deciding if painting is dead - painters around the world continue to paint and enjoy their craft. And art lovers continue to applaud and collect.
If you drawing perfect picture from reality, you can gey that picture from camara literally but when you drawing thing from your mind that no one every experienced or seen before and that's transmutted to drawing even if it is perfect or not but the viewer getting the emotion that artist wants to potrait, that's what art is MIND TO REALITY TOOL.
Andy's so smacked out in this clip that JMB has to hold him up. That's the definition of a supporting friend.
This speech deteriorates by each second into a an actor simply throwing great lines away as things of NO consequence.... really poor acting.
привет людям из лмса мфти
Muthafuka Muthafuka… look at all those blokes, look at their clothes, listen to their voices… but, hey Tracy, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em… “if you’re not down with art business, then you can’t call yourself an artist”… to paraphrase… I was so shocked when those words came out of her mouth in the back of some limo on her way to some awards ceremony back in 🤷🏽♀️ let’s just say back in the day… She’s not fucking wrong… expediency wins the day…
sik
Most homles artist tracy emin. 🤣
